I didn’t know if it was day or night

22 March 2009

You may recall I mentioned earlier in this blog that I was probably unlikely to enjoy Twitter, all that Facebook status updating nonsense etc.  Well, if I wore a hat I’d be inclined to smother it in gravy as it seems I do actually like it and irony of ironies it’s mainly because of the thing I thought I’d dislike.  Being restricted to only 140 characters does make you think twice before posting.

But perhaps it’s not so much Twitter that I like as the myriad of services that support it.  For instance there is blip.fm a site that integrates with Twitter nicely (as well as last.fm) and allows you to search for tracks that are online and not only allows you to play them it allows you to be a DJ (of sorts) broadcasting to the world or at least the world of blip and twitter.  Then there is bit.ly, with only 140 characters to use in a  message you could find that most URLs either exceed that or leave you too little to say anything.  Bit.ly is one of those URL shortening services that reduces a URL to around a dozen characters and again, integrates nicely with Twitter.  There are also sites like TwitPic for hosting photos so if you use your mobile phone you can literally have your photo and comments up online in seconds, with very little fuss or technical know-how. Sorry seems to be the hardest word.

18 March 2009

Firstly, I would like to apologise for not being imaginative enough to think up my own subject title.  I’d like to also take this opportunity to apologise for offending anyone in any of my earlier blog entries for things that I may have said that caused offence.  Oh fuck it! Who am I trying to kid?  I’m not sorry at all and quite frankly I’m getting more than a little pissed off every time I open a newspaper and find that someone is either complaining that no one is apologising or that people are clamouring to apologise for something or other. Mr Omneo Does Online Dating

16 March 2009

So, I decided that as age is no longer on my side and the chances of me bumping into Miss Right are quite slim, given that she’d have to be loitering outside my front door, it made sense to return to the idea of online dating.

Given that I posted earlier about Selfless Mind Dating it made sense for me to sign up there, especially as they sent me a 50% off the first months fee code.  Now, I’ve signed up to dating sites in the past but never really taken them seriously but as I rapidly near 40 years of age the outlook is a little bleak. Pot Pourri

15 March 2009

So, this afternoon I was listening to last.fm, I was tuned into what it thinks are good recommendations based on what it has deduced from the 50,000 odd tracks I’ve scrobbled.  One of the tracks it came up with was Kate Perry’s I Kissed a Girl.  The first time I have actually heard the song after reading about it often enough, not quite sure I understand what all the fuss was about?!  I recall something along the lines of her parents frowning in disapproval… Jeezus it only had a catchy tune, it was hardly encouraging girls to rush out and start lesbian relationships, was it??  A funny thing struck me as I listened to it tho, there was a line in it that made me think that it could quite possibly be a great song for a homosexual guy.  Something along the line of, “I  kissed a girl and I think I liked it, I hope my boyfriend doesn’t find out” THAT would have been funny!!
