Big Foot Strikes Again…

Today I learnt the price of discussing miserable attempts at cutting a hedge.  A little under £25!

Just as I was leaving work I mentioned to colleagues about the whole slicing through the wire fiasco and they were aghast that I didn’t have a circuit breaker and thought I was lucky not to have electrocuted myself.  I’m pretty certain these circuit breakers are a relatively recent form of emotional blackmail.  I always assumed that if I cut through the cable I would fuse the mains electricity supply, which is exactly what happened yesterday.  So why should I need a circuit breaker?  Allegedly it’s just to be on the safe side, in case you don’t fuse the main electricity supply.  I guess that most people are not going to want to slice a power cord just to see what happens but  I did and it seems to negate the purchase of a circuit breaker.

Baby Steps Mr Omneo, Baby Steps…

And still the saga rumbles on.  No, not the MP’s Expense hullabaloo I mean of course my hedge.  Regular perusers of this fine literary establishment will be all too familiar with my sorry tale with regard the plantation outside my living room window.

Last year I snipped it, around this time of the year actually, but I was lazy and only snipped the inside not the outside.  At the time I figured I’d do it another day…that day has finally come!  As I walked home this evening I could spot my house about 40 doors away by virtue of the giant green wart that seems to protrude into the middle of the pavement.  So I marched inside and found the extension cable, got out the steps and then collected a brush and gloves and finally I unwrapped the garden shears… the shiny new electric garden shears!

The Miracle Cloth meets Mr Omneo

The other day I mentioned the Miracle All Purpose Polishing Cloth.  I tend to refer to it as the Miracle Cloth, not purely because there are less letters to trip out of my mouth and the keyboard but for search engine optimisation, if such a thing actually exists outside of over priced conferences.

The Miracle all purpose polishing ClothAnyway, the Miracle Cloth… I decided to buy a box and see if they sell on-line.  They are definitely the sort of thing that sell at car boot sales and markets, when you actually see it in action you have no hesitation in putting your hand in your pocket for a few pounds loose change.  I realised that I’ve been living in my current abode for almost 6 years and in that time I’ve never polished the door handles which are brass, after about 30 seconds rubbing I was amazed, if only I had taken a before and after photo.  In my glee at seeing shiny handles I quickly went around the house doing them all… actually I don’t think I did the kitchen, I’ll check and take before and after photos.  For more on the Miracle All Purpose Polishing Cloth visit the website at www.miracle-cloth.co.uk. *UPDATE* As I have no life I took a before and after photo of the kitchen door handle. Yes, I really can see De Niro playing me in a  movie ;)   Anyway, photos at the end…

I’ve still got a shitty cold that I picked up in Glasgow, and of course run out of decongestants, the box I bought the other day I left in the office.  Really must get around to cutting the hedge at the front of the house, it’s going a bit crazy and blocking most of the windows.  Amazing the things you never notice when you are out of the house all day.

Mr Omneo Abroad

It’s been a while since I could be bothered to type anything.  You know how it is, some days you have too much energy, other days even lethargy is just exhausting to the depths of your being.  Anyway, not a great deal has happened in between times.  I eventually bought soil from my local B & Q at an absolute snip at only £4 for a 70 litre sack.  It did feel like it was going to break my back as I was about 100metres from home but the financial saving made it silly not to suffer albeit briefly.  Potatoes are in planters in the back garden and have recently started to flower, very soon I’ll be complaining about all the potatoes I’m having trouble getting rid of! ;)
