I remember listening to Joss Ackland on Desert Island Discs (nobody laugh!). He described himself as <em>a gregarious loner</em> a term that I have now claimed for myself as it's very often how I feel. I love sociable situations and once I'm in them I'm often the last to leave but it's getting me into them in the first place that's tricky! I agree, a drop of something strong is usually a pre-requisite for me but I found that my year without has, finally, made me realise I don’t need it as much as I thought I did.
