You gotta know when to hold ‘em

The last few days have seen fortune smile on me.  In addition to the Apple TV that I won on Thursday, Friday saw me winning a pair of tickets to see Michael Gambon in Krapp’s Last Tape, which is a play I really wanted to see but probably wouldn’t have gotten around to buying tickets for before it finishes in three weeks.  As if that wasn’t enough, I arrived home after work to find I’d received a pair of cinema tickets as well!

I’m tempted to buy a lottery ticket but if it’s true things come in threes, I’ve had my whack! That said, the plan is to head over to B&Q to get some shelves so if I remember I’ll pop into the petrol station and buy a lucky dip, chances are I’ll forget.  I’ve never really been tempted to become a hardcore lottery player.  I think deep down I’m with that section of society who just see it as a tax on the poor.  Not that middle class and upper class members of society don’t play the lottery, I just think more poor people do as they are the ones more desirous to leave their existing lives behind and are under the notion that a wheelbarrow full of cash will help them achieve it, hence they’ll spend more of their income on lottery tickets and scratch cards which the Government will tax.

Lesson Learnt?

Starting Kitty: $200

OK, so I thought as the new year was approaching it might be worth trying the ‘system’ again, only this time I’d try not to be so impatient (some might say greedy!) I signed myself up for another account with 888.com, deposited £100 ($200) which they matched and I then withdrew the original £100…nice and easy, so already I’m playing for free =)

Followed the system, slow but steady, one things for sure, you could never do this in a real casino, they’d kick you out for not betting enough I’m sure, especially if like me, you’d eat all their biscuits as you play :p#

Played for 70 minutes and turned in a $60 profit, not too bad really!

Ending Kitty: $260

Partys Over =(

Starting Kitty: $385

OK, you’d have thought I’d have learnt by now, wouldn’t you? but no! I hadn’t learnt my lesson and so decided to just deviate from the system to try and ‘catch up’ with what I ‘lost’ yesterday, it didn’t go well as I took another hit so decided to change tables and stick to the system.

Now, whether it’s my paranoia or not, but I am convinced these bloody online casinos are not as ‘random’ as they claim, either way I was on a losing streak and I was faced with following the system or packing it in. The system is an 11 bet system, that is after 11 bet’s you’ve gambled exactly $200 I put $75 on bet 12 and the remainder on bet 13… I ended with ZERO.

Bye Bye free money =(

Now, having learnt my lesson I’ll try another online casino and see if I can do a better job.

So, the end result of this experiment is I started with $200 of free money, I built that up to $600 and then lost it all =) But it didn’t cost me a penny and at the end of the day I made 79p due to exchange rate fluctuations when I deposited my original $200. So ultimately I made more money this month than I usually get from the bank in interest, so all in all I come out a winner, albeit a very modest one :p

Ending Kitty: $0

Do as I say not as I do!

Starting Kitty: $390

You’d think I’d learn wouldn’t you? After 35 mins I ended up $5 down. If I had followed the system I should have made a profit of $23, so my total loss was actually $28. And why was this?? I deviated from ‘the system’

Ending Kitty: $385
