If you like music with a hint of funk, a smattering of soul, perhaps a pinch of blaxploitation film soundtracks and a dollop of gritty garage rock a la the Sonics then chances are you already know of The Heavy, a quartet from a sleepy hamlet on the outskirts of Bath.
If of course the name means nothing to you I should tell you that The Heavy started life in 2007. In that year they released their first album Great Vengeance and Furious Fire which they quickly followed up in 2009 with The House That Dirt Built. Their 3rd album, The Glorious Dead, will be launched on Thursday 9 August at The Borderline in London.
The launch event is being hosted by Last.fm Live in London and as I write tickets have already sold out so there’s no point me telling you to go online and pick one up for the ridiculously cheap price of £7 but fear not, thanks to those nice people at Last.fm I have 1 pair of tickets to give away!
Once more I’m using Rafflecopter to run the give away as it seemed to work well enough. Simply answer the question to be in with a chance of winning these highly sought after tickets. You’ll also get extra entries for tweeting about the competition, following me on Twitter and liking my Facebook Page, I know…me and Facebook; it’s such an unlikely combination!
Now you’ve entered the competition why not enjoy a song from the boys?
